My evening with Mr. DeGraw

Hey girl hey!

It's time for the moment you've all been waiting for (or maybe just me)..
my recap of the Gavin DeGraw concert on Tuesday night.

But before we do that I have a few things to address!
one. If you read my post yesterday (you can do that here if you haven't), I promised to post the pictures that I forgot to add.
Here are our Four Loko costumes.. please excuse my glazed over drunk eyes, I had obviously been drinking said Four Loko already.

Here is me with my Monroe lip piercing. It's not a great picture but the only one I could find! It wasn't ever very noticeable and most people thought it looked dumb, now I agree with them. Oh well, you live and you learn right?!

two. It looks pretty different around here right? Well that is all thanks to the AMAZING Meg O. from the blog O is Me. She is not only an incredible blog designer, but so nice and easy to work with. She literally took my jumbled mess of ideas and turned it into something incredible. I can't thank her enough!

Now on to the good stuff..
Do you need a little background on my love for Gavin?
You can check out this post here, but don't judge because it was the second blog post I ever wrote. It will however, give you some good background info.

Let's look at my love for Gavin in numbers:
# of concerts attended: 10
# of times we've met: 7
# of pictures we have together: 6
# of t-shirts I own: 6
# of times I've met him at his bar in NYC and had him perform for a group of 5 people: 1
# of things I have signed by him: 5
# of episodes I watched DWTS even though I can't stand the show: 8

It all started back in high school when I was watching One Tree Hill and became obsessed with the theme song, but it has evolved into something way different. First of all, I love his music. He just has incredible talent, not only in singing but on the piano and his overall stage presence. He's also a genuinely nice person. Every single time I've met him he has been kind, funny, and never annoyed. I could go on and on but let's get to the recap.

The concert was in Downtown Denver at a place called The Fillmore Auditorium.

Several months ago, my Mom scooped up some Meet and Greet passes because we have gotten so used to seeing him in person that now it isn't the same if we don't. We got to the venue and waited in line until about 6:30pm where they gathered us and about 8 other people to head inside. While we waited for him to come out and meet us I asked my Mom if I should write down my Twitter handle and give it to him. The last time we saw him back in October, he joked about following me but never did. I decided to write it down and decide later if I should give it to him. He came out and started making his way down the line of people, stopping at every single person to introduce himself, autograph, chat, and take pictures. He did all of this with that big, huge grin he is known for.

Finally, he got to me, I introduced myself and told him we'd met a few times and he signed a poster we had been given when the Meet and Greet started. I told him I had a funny story and explained that he told me last time he would follow me on Twitter but didn't, so I had written down my name so he wouldn't forget. He took it, read it, laughed, and gave me a high five saying the name shenanigans was awesome. Then I died. Just kidding, we took pictures and then headed to our seats!

The concert started with Javier Colon, the winner of the 1st season of The Voice.
Just a heads up, all of these pictures are terrible because in my rush to leave I forgot to bring my actual camera and my iPhone camera wasn't cutting it!

Anyways, Javier was pretty amazing! I'm not a huge fan of some of the things that he sang but he truly has an incredible voice and he seems like such a nice guy.

Next up was Gavin, which was both good and bad. Good because I didn't have to sit through all of Colbie Caillat (don't hate, I'm just not a fan of her music) but bad because his set was shorter than I am used to.

The last song he played was "Not Over You" and Colbie came out to sing it with him which was pretty cool until they started holding hands and staring into each other's eyes. Something tells me there is some extracurricular activities going on on this tour. Just saying.

After Gavin's set, it was already almost 10pm and they took over 30 minutes to set up Colbie's stage. It was insanely hot in the venue and close quarters so Mom and I ended up calling it a night because neither of us were too excited about Colbie's performance. As we were walking out we caught about 1 minute of "Falling for You". I will say though that she is gorgeous, even prettier in person than she is in pictures! I snapped a quick photo of her stage set-up below.

Mom and I headed home and I crashed. I had been up since 5am and I was tired, sweaty and exhausted. Well, when I woke up Wednesday morning I had a little surprise waiting on my phone!

I'm not so much surprised because he seemed like he was going to do it, just excited! He follows a lot of people so it probably won't make a difference but it's cool and that's all that matters to me :)

Now I just have to direct message him my phone number and we can start dating and then get married. Just kidding, I'm not that crazy.. or am I ;)

I do have one request for him and that's to go back on tour by himself. The last two concerts have been him and another headliner and I miss the days where it was just him. Not only would be play for like two hours, but he sang some of his songs that are not as well known and happen to be my favorites. For example, the song "Glass". Has anyone heard it? That song makes me heart melt into a giant puddle I love it so much.  Okay okay I'll stop now!

Have a great Thursday!

Stop with the Four Loko costumes...I love them! I do. And I've never had a Four Loko, if you can believe it.

I love that the only way you'll go to his concert these days is if you get to see him before. That's high class and I like it.
