Now it's time to recap..
My Mom and I got matching tattoos
I think this is going to be one of my favorite stories for such a long time. My Mom and I have been talking about this for years, and thanks to my sweet friends Christa and Christan (they are twin sisters), we finally bit the bullet and did it. My Mom and I are so close, and I love having something that reminds me of her and our relationship. Plus the tattoo itself is pretty bad ass right? It's a hamsa (definition here) that was designed specially for us. It holds a Jewish star, our initials, and our astrological sign.
There were drama free Holidays
This one was a miracle within itself! My family is notorious for bickering and fighting during the holidays. This year everything was pretty peaceful and calm and it made the holidays a much happier time for everyone! I was so grateful for that. I also got the opportunity to bring my transplant friends into our family celebrations and that made my heart happy.
My Bestie came in town
I have two ride or die best friends, and their names are Katie and Alex. They live in Dallas and I don't get to see them as often as I'd like. Katie came in town for a trip with her family and we got to hang and sight see for a few days and it was so much fun! She also got to meet some of my Denver friends and I was so happy to see them hit it off and all love each other as much as I love them. A few weeks later I booked a flight to Dallas for next weekend and I can't wait to spend a couple of days with my best friends.
When I moved to Denver from college, I moved into a family townhouse in a suburban area outside of the city. It was cheap, it was easy, and I didn't complain. Then I started spending more and more time in Downtown Denver with my friends and I knew it was time to make a change. I found a roommate and then I found the perfect apartment. It's been an adjustment for Lily and I to get used to city living (one of us has to be walked outside to pee and one of us has to park on the street), but overall I've been so happy with the change. The next time I clean, I will take some pictures and do a little home tour.
When Justin Timberlake announced he was coming to Denver, I scooped up tickets and impatiently waited months to see him. The day of the concert, my Mom and went out for dinner and drinks and then headed to the Pepsi Center. Our seats were in the nosebleeds, but because of the moving stage he uses there were really no bad seats in the house. I sang and danced the entire show and my boy band loving heart swooned. One might say I danced like nobody was watching.. and there were definitely people watching. It was hands down one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
We hiked Red Rocks
I have been to Red Rocks a million times, but I have never once thought about hiking the surrounding area. A group of my friends randomly decided to go after a night out drinking, and although it wasn't planned and we may have thought we were done when we were only halfway, it was definitely worth it.We laughed, we cussed, oh and we forgot to bring water.. but 3.5 hours and six miles later we were all pretty proud of ourselves. Not to mention we saw some of the best views in Denver, and it was 70 degrees in January.
The Denver Broncos went to the Superbowl.. and got smoked
The whole city of Denver was beyond excited when the Broncos made it into the Superbowl. We had big dreams and on Superbowl Sunday the city was packed with orange and blue ready to cheer on the team. From the start it wasn't pretty and we never recovered, but I was still so proud of how far we went and how much fun the season was! On the bright side, Doug won $400 in squares and we got ice cream to soothe our pain.
I think that pretty much covers the big stuff. Oh wait, I forgot one major thing. When I moved I got rid of cable.. GASP. I know, I know. It took me some time to recover, but then I started a very healthy relationship with Hulu Plus and we are very happy together. Except Hulu Plus
Honestly though, besides that thing I talked about yesterday, the year is off to a great start and I'm pretty pleased. This weekend I am taking ski lessons for the first time, and yes I know how pathetic that is since I'm a Colorado native. I'm beyond nervous but excited and I hope it goes well. Wish me luck!
